Floor-to-ceiling bookcase for elegant interiors

A floor-to-ceiling bookcase is a highly aesthetic item of furniture that can attract attention, almost a work of art that's viewed with surprise and admiration.
In appearance it is an impressive item of furniture, suspended between sky and earth/ceiling and floor: lightweight and light-filled, it adds a touch of airiness to any space.

The floor-to-ceiling bookcase is the ideal way to divide rooms, because it separates while allowing the passage of natural light from windows or artificial light from lamps; this is a double-faced bookcase, accessible from either side. Alternatively, it can be installed next to a wall, and the back embellished with panels.

A floor-to-ceiling bookcase is lightweight but can hold a lot; this is a dynamic, fluid and airy item of furniture that helps spaces - albeit varying in use - to blend, almost creating a single whole.

Modula, the floor-to-ceiling bookcase from Alba

As an extremely popular and highly valued item of furniture, the floor-to-ceiling bookcase is an essential item in our catalogue.

It's called Modula, and it's a highly versatile modular bookcase available either for wall or floor-to-mounting.

In the floor-to-ceiling version, Modula comes in a range of heights thanks to adjustable pins which are available in 3 different lengths, inserted into the legs of the bookcase: each pin allows further adjustment of up to 50 mm.

The uprights are made in aluminium and extremely lightweight yet robust, and are available in 2 colours, black and white.

There is a choice of single column or multiple column arrangement. The latter uses 2 different types of uprights:

  • the main upright, which allows the bookshelf to be opened and closed
  • a central upright, used for all elements including the main uprights

This arrangement is what gives our floor-to-ceiling bookcase its modular character: the different columns can be joined in a versatile and dynamic way, either by combining uprights of different heights or by using shelves of different lengths. Shelves are available in 2 lengths, 36.85 cm or 69 cm, and a choice of 2 materials, wood or metal; each shelf can withstand 60 kilos.

The distinctive feature of the Modula bookcase is the innovative shelf supports developed by Alba: these can be positioned as required on the uprights, giving complete freedom in shelf arrangement. Furthermore, the support system means the shelves are independent, for easier installation and removal, and their inclination can be adjusted. [link to "bookcase with leaning shelves" page]

Like the uprights, the feet, shelf supports and shelves themselves are available in 2 colours, black and white.
